Dr. Mark Sweazey

Chiropractor, Biomechanical Evaluator

Born and raised in South-western Ontario, I attended the University of Waterloo. There I studied kinesiology and economics for three years. I focused my studies in the area of sports medicine, biomechanics and gait analysis. I began my studies at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Toronto in 1990. I graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from CMCC in 1994, and immediately came to Ottawa to work with Dr. Lacroix at the Gloucester Centre Chiropractic. In 1996, I purchased the practice and have continued to expand the services we offer at the clinic to include foot orthotics, registered massage therapy, and nutritional analysis.

I believe in a "thirst for life". Using chiropractic techniques and my knowledge of nutrition, I enjoy educating patients about their health opportunities. I try to help people to remove barriers, and move them towards their own life's potential. I personally follow this "thirst for life" philosophy by taking on new challenges, meeting them, and then teaching others how to meet them too.

My academic and professional career have been enhanced over time with several continuing education seminars including:

  • Lumbar spine and pelvis motion palpation
  • X-ray listing and technique
  • Pediatrics: diagnosing and adjusting children and infants
  • Biomechanical Golf Fitness Evaluations
  • Registered "Backsafe" training
  • Patient education and patient management
  • Philosophy and chiropractic education
  • Chiropractic rehabilitation
  • Nutritional analysis

One of my interests outside of the clinic is spending time with children. In particular, I enjoy working with young athletes. I volunteer as a hockey goalie coach with the Gloucester Rangers. I also enjoy playing hockey, soccer and mountain biking. Other interests include canoeing and camping, and spending time with friends and family.
