The Benefits of Chiropractic

"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease. " -- Thomas Edison.

Some people wonder why anyone would see a chiropractor. Some people wonder why anyone would maintain therelationship once they are no longer in pain. Well I know that from coming from a family of competitive athletes who made it on National teams, Canadian Championships, and University & College Sports teams it takes a determined and committed athlete to reach these levels. What becomes evident as a competitive athlete or a practitioner who works with one is that not only injuries can hold back an athlete from success, but also pain free poor mechanics. High level athletes or their coaches will recognize the loss of function decreasing their performance and work with a health practitioner, quite often a chiropractor, to correct the problem and restore their function. This is why most NFL teams, Olympic teams and such athtletes as Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Jerry Rice, Donavan Bailey, Lance Armstrong, our Ottawa Senators have used a chiropractor to be more flexibile, faster and able to get their best performances.

The next question is how does this elite functioning of the body apply to someone not competing in the Olympics or at a professional level. Well the thing with the body is that when it is at suboptimal function, that is a problem with the mechanics, then there is the tendency for the system to develop a problem more serious such as inflammation and eventual degeneration. This is not where anyone wants to end up with their body. More and more studies are showing that chronic inflammation is a contributor in heart disease, Alzheimer's, diabetes, depression and even cancer is being studied on the link. So why would anyone want to go around with repeated inflammation building in their body to possible cause a more serious health issue.

Chiropractic has been shown in research to restore range of motion, increase function and thereby decrease inflammation. This will not only make you feel better with your daily living or improve your ability to do exercise or sports, but it could help keep your inflammation down and thereby decrease your risk of a more serious health issue.  So with all those benefits I know why many people choose to continue their relationship with chiropractic care beyond just being out of pain.

What choice are you going to make?
